Fellowship Programme
The African Centre for Social and Population Research (ACSPR) Fellowship Programme is designed to nurture and empower the next generation of African researchers, policy leaders, and change-makers in the fields of social and population research. This prestigious programme offers fellows a unique platform to engage in high-quality research, build professional networks, and contribute to evidence-based policy and development initiatives across Africa.
Objectives
The Fellowship Programme aims to:
Provide an opportunity for emerging African scholars and professionals to engage in rigorous research and policy engagement.
Enhance fellows' capacity in research methodologies, data analysis, and knowledge translation.
Foster collaboration between fellows and national, regional, and international research and policy institutions.
Promote the use of evidence to inform policy and practice in Africa.
Programme Structure
The Fellowship Programme is a structured, six to twelve-month engagement that combines mentorship, training, and hands-on research. Fellows will work closely with ACSPR researchers and partners to deliver impactful outputs that contribute to policy and development priorities.
Mentorship
Mentorship from experienced researchers and policy experts.
Training Workshops
Participation in training workshops covering research methods, data analysis, and policy engagement.
Conference Participation
Opportunities to present research findings at conferences, policy dialogues, and academic forums.
Team Collaboration
Collaboration with ACSPR research teams on ongoing and new projects.
Resource Access
Access to ACSPR's resources, datasets, and research facilities.
Eligibility Criteria
African nationals or residents with a demonstrated interest in social and population research.
Possession of at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field (master's or doctoral students preferred).
Proven commitment to advancing evidence-based policy and inclusive development.
Ability to commit to the fellowship's duration and activities.

Application Process

Annual Programme Cycle
The Fellowship Programme will be offered annually, with the call for applications announced in January, selection completed by March, and the programme running from April to December.
